Call for abstracts
We invite applications to present at PhOMO's next APA affiliated group session, expected to take place at the 123rd meeting of the APA Central Division in Chicago (Feb 18–21, 2026).
Following the success of PhOMO's inaugural APA affiliated group session at the 2025 Pacific Division meeting, we intend to run a 2-hour session comprised of three 25- to 30-minute talks, each followed by 10-15 minutes Q&A.
Please note that PhOMO is unable at this time to financially support the meeting registration, travel, or accommodation costs of selected speakers.
How to apply
To apply, please email phil.mem.org@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Application for 2026 APA Central session’. In the body of your email, specify the name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s). As an attachment - and prepared for blind review - please enclose a PDF document indicating the title of your proposed talk and a max. 500-word abstract (excluding any references).
Abstracts should centrally address the philosophy of memory and will be evaluated on the basis of their originality, significance, clarity of argument, and suitability for a 25-minute talk. Only one submission will be considered by any given individual, whether as single author or co-author.
The deadline for submissions is 23:59 CEST on August 1st 2025. Successful applicants will be informed within one month of the deadline.

Call for organisers
We are seeking expressions of interest from early career researchers (current PhD students or postdoctoral researchers) to organise the 4th PhOMO Early Career Researcher conference, expected to be held online in 2027.
This conference will continue the series of online events led by early career researchers (ECRs), most recently IPM 4.5. Despite shifting away from the ‘.5’ name, our 4th ECR conference will remain continuous with previous events in the series. For details about these past events (IPM 2.5, 3.5, and 4.5) see Events.
About the role
As a member of the organising team, you will be responsible for helping to deliver an internationally engaging online conference that supports the academic development of early career researchers and cultivates our vibrant research community. Your contributions may include (but are not limited to):
• Attending some meetings of PhOMO’s Steering Committee.
• Drafting and disseminating a Call for Abstracts.
• Coordinating the peer review and selection of submissions.
• Inviting commentators for accepted papers.
• Designing promotional materials such as the conference poster.
• Scheduling conference sessions.
• Hosting and chairing sessions during the conference.
PhOMO will provide ongoing support, publicity, and a dedicated webpage for the event, as well as guidance based on past conferences.
How to apply
We welcome applications from either: (i) small teams of 2–4 individuals; or, (ii) individuals who are open to being selected as part of a team. All applicants should be:
• Early career researchers (current PhD students or postdocs, at the time of application) in philosophy, or related fields, with an interest in memory.
• Organised, responsive, and enthusiastic about contributing to an active research community.
To apply, please email phil.mem.org@gmail.com with the subject line ‘Application to organise 4th PhOMO ECR conference’ by August 31st, 2025. Applications should include the following as attachments:
1. Academic CV.
2. A brief (400 words max.) description of your background and motivation to apply, along with an account of any prior organisational experience. If you are applying with others as a team, please indicate this in your description. Although optional, you may also indicate how – if at all – you might run some aspects of the conference differently. (While we expect the basic structure of the conference to resemble IPM 4.5, we welcome creative suggestions.)
